Quick reference

NcFTP Client Cheatsheet

A quick reference guide for NcFTP: command-line FTP bookmarks, recursive batch downloads and uploads, and differential file sync.

· Published

NcFTP is an advanced command-line FTP client offering bookmarks, background transfers, and recursive batch synchronization tools.

Managing Bookmarks

Save connection profiles with credentials for instant reconnection:

# Open interactive shell
ncftp

# Connect to remote FTP host
open -u username ftp.example.com

# Save session as a named bookmark
bookmark myserver

Batch Transfers

NcFTP provides dedicated standalone non-interactive CLI utilities (ncftpget and ncftpput) for scripts and batch jobs:

Recursive Download

# Download remote directory /www/ to current local folder
ncftpget -R myserver /www/ .

Recursive Upload

# Upload current local directory contents to remote /www/
ncftpput -R myserver /www/ .

Uploading Changed Files Only

Combine Git commit tracking with NcFTP batch uploading to synchronize only modified files:

# List files changed in the most recent commit
git show --pretty="format:" --name-only HEAD~1

# Upload specific modified files using bookmark
ncftpput -C myserver remote/path/ file1.html file2.css
